The Marino Residents’ Association works to improve the community through a number of initiatives. These all form part of the Marino Estate Enhancement programme of work. Some of the highlights are below.

Marino Signage
Following a request to install some Welcome to Marino signs at our AGM in 2018, we successfully applied to Dublin City Council for funding to install three signs.
It was agreed that these signs would be in Irish and English with the crest of Marino Casino displayed. The installation of the signage was completed in December 2019.
Pictured (L-R) are the signs located at Brian Road (entrance from Griffith Avenue), St Aidan’s Park Road (entrance from Malahide Road) and Philipsburg Avenue (entrance from Griffith Avenue).

Planters
Following a request to install some green flowering planters in specific areas for the benefit of residents at our AGM in 2018, we successfully applied to Dublin City Council for funding.
It was agreed that planters would only be provided in spaces that were deemed suitable with sufficient spacing.
Four residents / volunteers came forward and planters were installed in the following areas in December 2019 (Pictured L-R):
- Two planters on the St Declan’s Road and Croydon Gardens junction
- The crossroads of Shelmartin Avenue and Brian Road – Two planters on north and two on the south side of junction
- Two planters on Croydon Terrace (top end facing Griffith Avenue)

Park Benches
Following a request to install some seating in the green areas at our AGM in 2017, we successfully applied to Dublin City Council for funding.
The members suggested that the following benches should be installed: two in Croydon Gardens, one in Marino Park (there was already one in the Community Garden) and one in St Aidan’s Park. The first installation of the benches was completed in October 2018.
Following the success of the first installations, it was agreed at our AGM in 2019 that four further seats would be purchased and installed: one in Marino Green, one in Croydon Green with an extra seat to be provided in Marino Park and St Aidan’s Park.
Applications to Dublin City Council for funding were successful and the second installation of the benches was completed in October 2019.
The Marino Residents’ Association would like to acknowledge and thank Dublin City Council for their funding and assistance with this project.
Feedback
The seats are a lovely community idea and I love to see people, young and old, sitting chatting on them. Once again thank you for your work for us.
Chonaic mé iad anocht. Great addition. Very welcome.
I was wondering what the big slab of concrete was for – delighted to see the seats. Thanks so much for this lovely addition to our wonderful green spaces in Marino!
Super idea and great way to take a load off your feet. Well done.
I live across from one of them in the top circle and it’s brilliant. Should have been done years ago. They look fantastic so well done to the Residents’ Association. It’s a great addition to Marino.

Marino Estate Enhancement
The benches installed have proven to be a great success and after the first year we are glad to report that no damage has been caused to same nor has any anti-social behaviour been reported. Should there be any ‘anti-social’ behaviour we would encourage you to report same to Clontarf Garda Station on 01 666 4800 and to inform MRA in order that we can also follow up on same with the Gardaí.
